Large numbers of flying foxes can be found in Sydney's Royal Botanical Gardens any day of the year. To sleep, they hang upside down during the daytime, nestled closely together. Every moment or so, one of them will stretch out its long wings, inevitably knocking one of its neighbours in the head. The two will then scream at each other until one of them moves far enough away. This happens all day long: One can only wonder how they get a decent days sleep.

It has become a bit of a problem that these lovely creatures sometimes drop down on unsuspecting tourists, digging their teeth into their victim's jugular vein for a mid-day meal. Locals have learned that flying foxes will not attack anyone who is wearing their shirt collar up.
